The journey of a champion

From a borrowed racquet to India No. 1.

Kaustubh Singh was introduced to tennis at the age of eight at a free PLAY n FIT community camp. Under the guidance of Coach Mohammad Obaid, he learned the game, developed his skills and began his journey towards the top of junior tennis.

His dedication and hard work took him from his first swing at the academy to representing India in the U‑14 category at the World Junior Tennis competition in Malaysia.

From becoming Uttar Pradesh No. 1 to earning the AITA Boys Under‑14 National No. 1 ranking, Kaustubh’s journey reflects the impact of consistent coaching, determination and opportunity. He has continued to compete in junior tennis and achieved AITA Boys Under‑16 National Rank No. 12, according to the official ranking list dated 27 July 2026, with 503.25 ranking points.

His story continues to inspire young players who dream of competing at the highest level.

“At age 8, I took my very first swing with a racquet Coach Mohammad Obaid placed in my hand; I knew nothing about tennis at the time. Today, having represented India and reached the AITA National No. 1 ranking, I owe this entire journey to Coach Obaid and PLAY n FIT Tennis Academy. They don’t just build players—they build champions from scratch.”

Reached the top of the national rankings in August 2025 and held it for 7 consecutive weeks, after becoming Uttar Pradesh No. 1 and being selected for India’s U‑14 team.
